After trying for several hours wasted trying to follow the instructions on installing a map download I have come to the conclusion that the navdesk software is a load of rubbish. No support after hours and no reply from an earlier enquiry what a joke "support" is. Can anyone help with how to get navdesk to work. I have tried it on windows 7 and xp with no luck
If I remember correctly there is an issue with Navdesk and 64-bit OS. What is the software not doing - not detecting gps, seeing latest update etc? A little more info would be good and then I'd be happy to assist.
Hi Malangell
if you have the latest Navdesk 7.5 it seems ok with my system win 7 64 home prem and on 7 64 pro try reinstalling or try if you have 7.3 they both seem to work, uninstall old first
NavDesk 7.50 not allowing map update for Navman GPS.
I am having the same issue as Malangell - I have downloaded NavDesk 7.50 on my desktop, have downloaded the updated maps on my HP ultrabook with Windows 8 and am becoming frustrated as like Malangell I too have wasted a few hours trying to install maps and find that NavDest 7.50 is not registering that my Navman is connected or something and I can't get the maps to become updated on My-500xt Navman. Please help!! I had some rude technical support officer from Manilla trying to guide via telecon, however spoke in a condescending voice and I became frustrated with him and hung up - KittyCat
It doesn't matter what support you are after these days, unless you learn Philipino and Indian you wont understand a thing they are saying.
Have found that the moment I have difficulty trying to comprehend what is being said, I immediately ask for a supervisor and get transferred back to a support desk in Australia.
I have a Eezy45 and have the similar problem. On Windows 8 64 bit won't recognise the Navman, but if I put it on a win XP machine then no problems. But, I no longer run win XP as Iv'e upgraded all my PC's. So, have been left out in the dark a bit. Same with Navdesk 7.50.
Anyone any ideas?
Well, it seems that I have to get rid of my Navman. I have tried to get it working but, if that is what you get for help from Navman, I am going to someone else, and get rid of my EZY 45 in the bin.
I have the MY85XLT which was purchased July2012.
Went to update my maps (because I received and email this morning) and it comes up with the error message:
"sorry your map data can no longer be synchronised and backed up. There is a problem connecting to the server. Please reconnect your device and try again"
Running Navdesk 7.50. I managed to download the map data (Australia) onto my hard drive, but that's it.
Though desperation, I reinstalled the software on the unit (so now its back to 2012 specs and maps) and I cannot go any further.
I suspect my problem is that I only had a two year free map. So now I am stuck, I suspect.
So frustrating... I may have to convince wife to upgrade both our Navmans to a more robust unit. This has been nothing but a nightmare.
Hi All,
following up on this problem- apparently it was something to do with their sever. Which has been fixed. But now when I connect the unit to the computer, it recognises the GPS and opens the software. I then get some crazy message about W:\ disc drive not being recognised or that it cannot read W:\ WTF.... I only have two discs in my computer C:\ and D:\. After several cancel pressing, I get to the software, I can see my GPS but it will not allow me to update the file. I even purposely left it over night thinking its a bloody huge file. Nuh - nothing.
There was a Navman rep who used to give good advice on the Forum, but I think the constant complaining he has gone into hiding.
For the last 5+hrs I have been waiting for my map update to download. It is still at 0%. Yes I am connected to internet, I have navdesk 7.5 and nothing is happening. I have deleted program from my computer and reinstalled but find the same problem. Any tips or is it a lost cause?
I am trying to get the 7.5 navdesk to run on windows 8.1 with no luck, yet it will run no problem on my laptop windows 7.
I have Win 8.1 and found the .NET 3.5 framework wouldn't install as part of the Navdesk installation; it kept giving en error then a Hex code.
Turns out you have to go into control panel, uninstall programs, then on the left side of screen click on "Turn on / off windows features" then ensure you tick all the boxes for the .NET framework.
Don't know if this helps your problem but thought someone may have had the same issue.
Updates can be achieved with older Window versions. I now have a new computer running Windows 10 & cannot update maps as the software is not compatible.
Navman need to rectify this fault & issue new discs or make available a software version on the net.
Yes I have just brought a brand new Navman hoping to solve my old issues of not being able to load the mapping system onto my Win 10 laptop. I suspect it is something to do with the C++ 2008 as that is when it chokes itself. If anyone has any suggestions that would be appreciated.
