GPS: Garmin Map Pilot

I have tried, all the options I can find on several sites to load safety camera POI's into my Garmin Map pilot v8 in Merceded C class.
This includes the directory named PersonalPOI renaming the files as per instructions etch....None of them prompt map pilot so say importing POI's. I have also downloaded the Garmin GPI file on this site as the existing file in the POI directory is in GPI format. The navi system definitely took much longer that usual to boot up with GPI file in the POI directory but still can't see my local gatso when I view POIs on the map.
Anyone got any ideas?

Have you noticed the alerts when driving now? I found with my C Class that you couldnt view them as POI's but it alerts you when driving.

I was having same problem when I updated the Road Safety POI the unit could not read. Until I read somewhere in forums that need to edit the encoding from ISO to UTF by replacing encoding="iso-8859-2" TO encoding="UTF-8" On the top line. Download file then open with Notepad to edit and save as PersonalPOI. So file name PersonalPOI and folder name PersonalPOI. I use Mercedes 2013 GPX POI and it takes sometime to show up when you insert the SD without saying Downloading POI. Make sure you select show POI in NAV option. All the best

Is that right? Would it help if I ask Andrew to change the Mercedes 2013 GPX template file?

The encoding change has been added as an option a few years ago. The [Options] button is located in the Downloads page (top left corner), and in the https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert/poiedit.php (POI Editor - top menu line)
Alternatively you can set up your default encodinge here: https://www.gps-data-team.com/convert/setup.php

I hope it helps.

I have got the alerts working without the Chinese text.
I am still working on getting the POI icons to show. I can get either icons or alerts but not both.

Strangely enough I managed to get them both working using the GPS simulator but not in real life!

Just about to try another version of the POI GPI file Smile
