|
|
It has happened to me on three occasions and for some reason I have to hit the reset button at the bottom.
The first time it happened I had just purchased the GPS and the next morning it would not turn on I then returned it to the place of purchace and they gave me a replacement.
The other two times have happened on the replacement as well
Any suggestions ?

| I have same problem My Tom Tom new edition one wont turn on some times. have had it swapped as well but still does it, I think it has something to do with the battery. if its too low it wont turn on untill the bat is charged to a certain level. It also has to be reset when charged to turn on.

Is it possible you have moved the sd card while Tomtom is on.
I found that the usual reason it would not start up next time.

|
|
| Connect your TomTom to your PC, goto the SD Card via Explorer and then Delete all the files "But not Folders" in the root of tomtom, startup TomTom Home connect to it via your TomTom and it will re-install it back to a working unit but keeping your pois and favs.

I think it's the best thing to do with your malfunctioning TomTom.

|
|
I have had the same problem with my brand new TomTom One XL. It does seem to be related to the SD Card as mentioned before. My unit doesn't like the SD Card and wont boot up with it in (comes up with the red cross error animation)...so like an idiot I ejected the SD Card while the unit was still switched on...then the trouble started with not booting...unless it was plugged into the mains.
All I did to fix it was unplug the TomTom from the mains (it was fully charged by the way), put the SD Card back into the slot, turned the TomTom on, waited to get the error message, then turned off the TomTom, then ejected the SD Card, and Hey Presto !! the unit turns back on again even if it is not plugged into the mains.
It worked for me, so hopefully may help others

| I just bought a TomTom One 125. Not only will it not stick to the windshield, but I can't even get it to turn on. Seems like it is a piece of garbage.

I got a TomTom One too and this worked for me people.
1. Plug in the mains.
2. Get a pin (or something really thin) and press the reset button (should be located under your SD card slot)
3. Keep pressing the reset button and also press the power button until it comes on.
Hope this helps you.
