      Hi Guys

I have just purchased a Medion GoPal GPS model PNA500T which uses Navteq mapping.

I am in Australia. I would like to know a couple of things.

1) Can this software be used to include speed cameras and red light cameras as well as speed zones in Australia and on this GPS?

2) How much is it?

3) How much are the updates?

Hi
many people avoid buying Medion, mostly because that Medion is sold by Aldi, discount supermarket store chain.
There is no doubt that both Medion and TomTom use the same technology with remarkable different price tag (guess which one is cheaper).

We did not have chance to test any Medion device yet. We will release POI data for Medion after we test it.

Hi

Medion does not seem to be a bad brand as is most of the Aldi's products.

If you have to buy one to test it there probably won't be any left as this sort of item sells out on the day they hit the stores.

So how can we try out your software to see if it will work?

If you do get one how long before you release the POI Data.

I got to your site from SCBD.info site who use a program called Speed Limit which they say works with this model Medion but of course their's is for Europe.

Hi
With Medion you need to purchase additional software for which we may provide required data format.
We do not have intention to make our own version of Speed_Limit or POI_Warner software. It may be considered again in case of increased public interest.

Hi Mark

Sorry I may be a bit dumb today but are you sayin that if I purchase additional sofware then I may be able to use your data?

If so which software do I need to purchase?

What do I need to do after that?

Medion needs additional software to alert you about approaching camera locations. Additional Medion software can use our data.

Medion software can be loaded with our files (CSV format). Files are available in our POI zone.

Hi Mark

This is getting rather frustrating as I do not understand what I need to do. Please explain the process as the only file I have on the GPS is the Navteq map - Australia.map and I do not understand how I get your POI files to work with this file.

Hi
As I already explained, we do not provide support for Medion GPS. You need to purchase additional software, but we do not sell it.

Hi Mark

I got that already and I asked you a few times now what software do I need to purchase that works with your POIs and the Navteq map software on the Medion.

Martyn, you can buy software from any provider that you already mentioned in your previos posts... Both SCDB and POI_warner use CSV database with their software.

Hi Mark

I have purchased the Speed Limit sofware from SCDB and installed it on the GPS. I have also registered with GPS Data Team.

How do I now get the software to use your POI's?

Hi
Goto http://www.gps-data-team.com/poi/_safety/ , download CSV file ( e.g. Garmin CSV file format) and load downloaded CSV file according to instructions provided with purchased software.

I just read the Manual (printed & on CD) & did as it said to access Lights Red light cameras fixed speed cameras .. YOU USE A PEN AND TOUCH THE RED SQUARE (lower right) ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR USING THIS FEATURE - THE RED SQUARE TURNS GREEN traffic lights apper in both map view along with a ! in a triangle representing fixed cameras .. the warnings givin consist of one/two beeps as you approach the "trap"
