Hi everyone...

Can I have a 'SOUND ALERT' whenever an indicated speed limit is exceeded?

I have a Nuvi 1390T and currently whenever I exceed the indicated speed limit, the actual speed the car is travelling at turns 'RED' and doesn't revert back to 'BLACK' until I slow the car down enough to the indicated speed limit or below.

I would like to get a 'SOUND ALERT' at the point whenever I exceed the indicated speed limit, the actual speed the car is travelling at turns 'RED'??

I've already tried loading up a ‘CUSTOM POI’ with a speed limit alert applied at 62 KPH for a 60 KPH zone but, this warming continues to be displayed on the screen at all times and pings the alarm despite the indicated speed limit being 70 or 80 KPH!

Any help from those of you that can would really be appreciated.

Regards - Pablo

I think the speed alerts are in the mapping section of program so it can't be altered. May come with map updates one day if we are lucky.

You need to have a unit that is capable of having CUSTOM POI's
You then download or make a custom file and add the codes you need to obtain your warnings.

Thanks but, my unit (1390T) is capable of having Custom Poi’s it’s just me the operator that obviously can't find the right download or add the necessary code.

I've already tried loading up a ‘Custom POI’ with a speed limit alert applied at 62 KPH for a 60 KPH zone (which works) however, this warming continues to be displayed on the screen at all times and pings the alarm despite the indicated speed limit being 70 or 80 KPH!

Can you tell me where I can download the information I need or tell me how to create the code for a POI of my own????

Any advice would be appreciated!

Regards P

PS - I found this information on the Garmin site but, it doesn't really help as I can only achieve what I've already explained above?

Speed Information
Speed information can be included in the file name or in the names of individual Poi’s within the file.
POI Loader determines speed information based on the following information, listed from highest to lowest priority:
1. Speed information included in the name of the individual Custom POI. For example, a POI named "SpeedZone@30" will have an alert speed of 30 regardless of the speed information specified in Manual mode or in the file name.
2. Speed information entered in Manual mode.
3. Speed information included in the file name. POI Loader interprets any numbers in the file name as speed information.
