GPS POI > GPS Forum > POI updates and downloads > Can I just download "general" POIs in my state

I got a no name GPS for Christmas last year...it was pretty cool, but I cannot update the maps anymore. Still, anytime I needed to find a store, park, bank....I could find it by spelling the name. With my NUVI there are very few POI's. Common places like Joann Fabrics or Toys R Us are not listed. I would like to download POIs for my area, but all I can find are groups of POIs...like all the Walmarts in the world, all the Starbucks etc.

I'm looking for a variety of POIs for Washington State. I did find something, but it looks to be mostly parks and lakes, which isn't going to help me when I'm trying to find a thrift store.

I have a Nuvi 1200.

There is a drop down list on the download page of the POI where you can select a state. Works for the Australian POI's anyway.

dunnyrock - That doesn't include a group/all POI's for that location (that I could see).

Unless I'm wrong you can only download specific POIs for specific states. I'm a bit dissappointed that Australia Wide POIs no longer seem available, now you have to download state specific ones. Very Frustrating if you travel interstate & want to keep an uptodate POI library.

You can either download for each state/region you want or you can download for the whole country.
