I have seen in Australia councils are starting to put in cameras that monitor street parking and automatically hand out parking fines (through the mail) from these cameras.
So if you pull into a no standing because you are waiting for a car to pull out of its parking spot you will be fined, if you stop in a no standing for 30 seconds to let a passenger out you will be fined, if you overstay 1 minute in a designated spot you will be find. very scary stuff counsel’s are making massive revenue from these and are putting more cameras in all the time.
I think we should start a new POI section for a camera parking zones!

Cameras set up in Footscray will snap motorists after 90 seconds for stopping in no-standing, loading and bus zones and the local council will issue fines up to $138.
In a Victorian first, Maribyrnong City Council is to use the system.
The council expects one camera, at the corner of Paisley and Leeds streets, to detect 13,000 offences a year, potentially worth almost $2 million.
This information is almost 6 months old, apparently NSW as more permanent cameras. Will keep my eyes and ears open for more info.
