In my initial tests I was able to get the Speed Cameras with speed in POI. The ones supplied in the download area with my purchase didnt come with speeds in the POI. Examples of the CSV that I was expecting are ...

142.1536457,-34.1924080,Speed Camera@60
144.7115258,-37.8806369,Speed camera@80

Your files have this format ...

151.0097977 , -33.9789827 ,Speed Camera
145.0837054 , -37.9982104 ,Speed Camera

Is there another location - have I got the wrong set of files?

Thanks.

Hi
We are just upgrading our download zone. Speed limits were removed for 2 reasons: 1. we do not recommend using it; and 2. our download zone was not compatible with speed limits.

You are 3rd Garmin user who ever requested speed limits to be activated. Anyhow, we will include speed zones in our next major upgrade, within 2-3 weeks.

I just want to make clear: we do not recommend using speed limits for speed cameras on any Garmin device.

Regards

I hear you. I guess I understand your dilema in that you are offering a service that is supposed to be accurate.

The little experience I've had tells me that the same point still beeps on the Garmin. The added advantage is that when you are travelling above the speed limit, there is repeated beeps.

But I think the advantage this offers to the driver is worth it. Its no different to offering out of date files or missing one spot. There's always a risk. So I for one, do hope you release the additions soon.

Thanks.

How come there seems to be multiple topics related to having the speed listed in the speed camera csv files for Garmin, wouldn't it be better to move them all to one topic so it would be easier to see if there is much interest?

I'd like to add my vote for providing the Speed information in the Garmin speed camera csv files.

I see the current speed camera csv has speed information for some cameras but the majority don't so will more of them be updated in future or will we have to manually update them ourselves?

Cheers,
Mick

Hi
we are pleased to see that our registered users use new feature in our POI download zone. All registered users are able to add and edit POIs listed in our download zone.

Speed zones will be added as soon as we finalise testing the latest set of online POI tools. You are still encouraged to add any interesting or missing POI, or to provide any better description for existing points of interest.

Regards

Have the speed limit warnings been integrated into the Garmin files as of yet?

I downloaded the free speed trap and red light camera files to check them out. The Speed Trap file has a few entries which say the City and state, or the intersection/road, but most only have coords and a string like "Speed camera warning" or similar.

Do the files with paid access have more thorough info? I would like to see city and state information, and street/highway info so you can search ahead of time before you leave for a trip, etc.

Hi
Our POI Download Zone is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). Our active users can download our POI database with full POI descriptions, speed limits, phone numbers, audio alerts etc.

Looking through the forum and this thread, I have reached the conclusion that you have decided not to include speed information along with your speed camera data.

Is that correct?

Hi
You have reached the wrong conclusion. As you can see, multiple Speed Camera POIs have speed limits included (lines ending with @xx). It can be used with any new GPS device (e.g. Garmin NuviGPS that supports speed zone alerts.
