Hot tip if thinking about purchasing the TomTom RDS TMC receiver.
1. You will need to get the right receiver for Australia (Part Number: 9V00.101)
2. Map version must be “Aust v720.1868” or later. If you don't have this you have just wasted your money.
Mind you the receiver works great in Melbourne. Shows any delays which you may experience during your trip.

Agreed,
Just bought the receiver (4V00.001) from Dick Smiths and the Tom Tom GO 930 and together they work great!
The traffic updates work very well and reliably and have already saved me several hours on my weekly commute.
Highly recommended.

They are a great addition to your TOMTOM.
Now only got to find a stand instead of that suction cup for the GO 720.

| For anyone who's thinking of getting one, be aware that your TomTom needs to be plugged in to power for the receiver to work. Not an issue if you're expecting it (or always have the power plugged in). Major issue if you're neither expecting it, or normally use your TT on battery only.

I have a 910 with US Map (although Europe is my primary) with US 6.x map.
I tried it once in US with my RMC receiver, but it gave me a message that this service is not available on that map.
When using 6.x European map, I had no issue like that.
Anybody knows what the issue is?

| In my opinion the TMC traffic information is so poor as to be worthless. The number of times I have been stuck in traffic with a strong TMC signal showing no warning are too numerous to count.

Just thinking of buying the "traffic" model 720 or 930 for Australia, if so does the TMC work in Europe and USA assuming I also have the correct maps?
Thanks

| Ok I have a tomtom xl 340s and it supports the traffic receiver. I saw one person say it's not worth it. I live in california where there is always commute! What I would like to know is for the most part is it worth it and is it accurate? Oh before I forget does it connect via fm transmitter? Is the sound good or is it like the old fm transmitters when they first came out?
