Hi
Timed School Zones, you know so they only activate at the correct time of the day.
If a GPS Guider and a Road Angel (ov2 file) can get it right, why can't ov2 files in TomTom 910 get it right?
Does someone know how to edit files. POI edit is not up to it.

To have your School Zone warning alert operational during school times only is a manual function of disabling the warning.
The Point Of Interest alert has no Time Of Interest function and as far as I'm aware no GPS unit has an automated time zone alarm function.

Interesting.
Do you recommend these obsolete, third world GPS technology devices instead of many other more advanced GPS models?

| It would be great if the poi works during active school hours

How can you call a GPS obsolete and third world, when the very latest TomTom XL340 DOES NOT HAVE TIMED SCHOOL ZONES.
From what I can gather you cant even do this with a TomTom.
Why. Perhaps the TomTom is a third world obsolete piece of junk, considering I have a mate who has a Road Angel that is 2 years old and it has timed school zones and not only that it only alerts on school days.

My thoughts are it is a feature in software such as Road Angel which I guess must look at the device calendar and time, and not a function of the POI itself.

The other possible reasons for not having timed zones are:
1. Makes the files much larger and eats more memory.
2. Even out of the timed speed reduction, there are still kids around the schools and it doen't hurt us motorists to be warned that we are in a school zone.

Seems incredible doesn’t it the GPS has so much functionality but something so apparently simple like time activated POI’s appears to have skimmed over the heads of the programmers, or is it too difficult? Wonder what the answer is?

| Hey you are all right about these school zones, however the GPS will tell you that one is coming up, Now we all have clocks in our cars to check the time and see if we are actually in a time frame. The GPS is a warning only. After that, beware in all school zones.

| The Garmin Nuvi 3790T changes the speed limit to 40 kilometres during school zone times but provides no other warning. As an additional aid I have downloaded the GPS Data Team POI for school zones (but not the WAV File -with the message "school zone ahead") which gives me a "ping" warning about 400 metres from a school zone. These two in combination work well for me.

I have the 3790T, but have never noticed. I'm trying to get the custom POIs to work to remind me.

I go through a few school zones on my way to/from work & they all have different time coverages & one is zoned 24hrs/7days a week (and yes you CAN be booked on weekends & holidays).
In one location there is a 'T' intersection with 2 schools. The main road has one set of times & the side street has another & is one way during those times.
