I own a Garmin C510 and I have had to download Redlight/speed and school zone POI's from various sources. Why is this data is not automatically provided with the unit when other brands such as MIO have it by default? |

You probably need to ask another question: can you load custom POI or not? You can't do it with some less expensive GPS brands.
The most popular GPS brands are good in making GPS hardware and software. Their priority is not to collect POI or to update maps. As you probably know, all big GPS brands use the same map data from Navteq, Sensis etc. Basic POI data are preloaded. For more advanced POI data you need to update POIs from time to time.
I refresh my POI files and get all local POI before every long drive and I am very happy.
